1. Scope
Lab 317 (lab317.science) provides managed AI agent services, AI consulting, and custom platform development for businesses. These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Lab 317 website and its subdomains (collectively, "the Site"), as well as any interaction with Lab 317's AI agent systems, including inbound and outbound email. These Terms do not govern separate client service agreements, which are subject to their own terms.
2. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing the Site or sending email to any @lab317.science address, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site or communicate with Lab 317's agent addresses.
Lab 317 may update these Terms at any time. When material changes are made, Lab 317 will notify you by email to the address on file. Updated Terms take effect upon delivery of that notice. Continued use of the Site or communication with Lab 317's agent addresses after notice has been sent constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Changes do not apply retroactively.
3. Agent Services and AI Disclosure
Lab 317 operates a system of managed AI agents that receive and respond to inbound email. These agents operate under named personas — including but not limited to Sterling, Support, H., Q., Jordan, and Trestle — and their responses are generated by artificial intelligence. Lab 317 does not guarantee that any particular message will receive a response, or that responses will be free of error.
By sending email to any @lab317.science address, you acknowledge that you may receive AI-generated replies. Some inquiries may be escalated to or handled by human staff at Lab 317's discretion. Lab 317 does not represent that a response is the work of a human unless explicitly stated.
The Site may also include AI-powered features that generate content or recommendations based on your inputs. Any such output is provided for informational purposes only. Lab 317 does not guarantee its accuracy or completeness, and you should independently verify any output before relying on it. Lab 317 reserves the right to add, remove, or change the AI models underlying any feature at any time.
4. Data Collection and Retention
When you send email to any @lab317.science address, Lab 317 collects and stores your email address, display name, message content, message metadata, and a record of your interactions with our systems. This data is retained indefinitely.
Your email and its contents are processed by third-party service providers integral to Lab 317's operations: Fastmail (email infrastructure), Anthropic (AI model provider), and Railway (database hosting). Data shared with these providers is governed by our service agreements with them and their respective privacy policies. Lab 317 does not permit AI providers to use your data to train their models.
Automated replies sent by Lab 317's agents are transactional responses to your inbound message. Marketing communications sent from [email protected] include an unsubscribe mechanism.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information Lab 317 holds about you by contacting [email protected]. For full details on data handling, see our Privacy Policy.
5. Permissible Use
The Site and its contents are provided for informational and commercial inquiry purposes. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reproduce, publish, license, or create derivative works from any Site content except as expressly permitted by law or these Terms.
You agree not to use the Site or any @lab317.science address to:
- transmit content that is unlawful, harmful, obscene, harassing, or that infringes any third party's rights;
- impersonate any person or entity, or forge headers or other identifiers to disguise the origin of any communication;
- attempt unauthorized access to Lab 317's systems, servers, or data;
- interfere with or disrupt the Site or any systems connected to it;
- harvest, scrape, or extract data from the Site by automated means — including bots, crawlers, spiders, agent frameworks, or Model Context Protocol (MCP) tools — except for standard web indexing by authorized search engines in compliance with robots.txt;
- use Site content or Lab 317 systems for AI training, commercial data aggregation, or competitive analysis without express written permission; or
- violate any applicable local, federal, or international law or regulation.
You are responsible for ensuring that any third parties or automated tools acting on your behalf comply with these Terms.
6. Intellectual Property Rights
All content on the Site — including text, design, code, agent personality definitions, the DRIFT system architecture, and Lab 317's brand assets — is owned by or licensed to Lab 317 and protected by applicable copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use Lab 317's intellectual property except as expressly stated.

7. Termination
Lab 317 may limit or terminate access to the Site or its agent systems at any time, with or without notice, including in the event of a material breach of these Terms. Lab 317 is not liable for any such limitation or termination.
Violations of these Terms may cause irreparable harm. Lab 317 reserves the right to seek injunctive relief, damages, and attorneys' fees in addition to any other available remedies.
8. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lab 317, its officers, agents, and licensors from any claim, demand, or expense — including reasonable attorneys' fees — arising out of your breach of these Terms, your unauthorized use of Lab 317's intellectual property, or your violation of any third party's rights.
9. Exclusion of Warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAB 317 MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. DESCRIPTIONS OF LAB 317'S SERVICES ON THE SITE ARE FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY AND DO NOT CONSTITUTE GUARANTEES.
10. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAB 317 AND ITS OFFICERS, AGENTS, PARTNERS, AND LICENSORS ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, PUNITIVE, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SITE, ANY AI AGENT RESPONSE, OR ANY THIRD-PARTY CONTENT OR SERVICE ACCESSED THROUGH THE SITE — EVEN IF LAB 317 HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
This limitation does not apply to liability arising from Lab 317's own gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict of law principles.
12. Survival
Sections 4 (Data Collection and Retention), 6 (Intellectual Property Rights), 8 (Indemnity), 9 (Exclusion of Warranties), 10 (Limitation of Liability), and 11 (Governing Law) survive termination of your use of the Site.
13. Waiver and Severability
Lab 317's failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
14. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any separate client service agreement, constitute the entire agreement between you and Lab 317 regarding the Site and supersede all prior understandings relating to the same subject matter. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and a separate client service agreement, the client service agreement controls.
